Subject: End of Day 2
I survived my first full day in Peru! And I think it may be easier to put it in bullets.

Things discovered today...

  • Met Peru's own Forrest Gump this morning at breakfast. He is walking the whole entire Peruvian  coast on foot. And has been interviewed and followed by all the major newspapers!  He's staying in Lima for a little longer since its his home town. And also bc lots of the major newspapers are here!
  • Figured out my way around on foot using my guidebook! Woohoo!
  • Met two really great girls, Katrina from England and Vanessa from New York, both in their early 20s,  at the South American Explorers club who just happen to be going to Mancora (the Northern surf town) for the next few days. There is also going to be a major women's surf competition that ill be watching when I get there! Both Katrina and Vanessa are volunteers at the club and have the next few days off for this trip.
  • Rode a "collectivo" or public bus with Katrina to the center of Lima to get my bus ticket for tomorrow. Scary, but fun!
  • Ordered TWO entrees (by accident)! And tried the ceviche which was okay. My goal is to find the best ceviche I can in Peru!
  • Took a nap!!  Not exciting, but necessary for today and my lack of sleep last night due to singing German (I just met him earlier! His name is Johnny and is from Denmark)
  • Watched the first part of Game 6 at an American sports bar. Biiiig sad face. :(
  • Came back to the hostel and met and talked with Brad from Canada!   Talked a lot about Canada and how they say "eh" a lot. Also really recommended a ton of great things to do in Lima (and Canada!) Including visiting the San Francisco Tomb (?) which holds more than 7000 catacombs! And also to go paragliding along the Pacific Coast.
Hmmm...I think that its for today!! That and my thumb muscles are tired! Good night!! And I love you!!
